INTRAOCULAR IMPLANT AND MAKING THEREOF

PURPOSE: To obtain a composite intraocular lens foldable so as to be capable of being inserted through a small cut opening by forming a rod from a high refractivity material having the diameter of a soft foldable optical part. CONSTITUTION: An intraocular lens is an integrated composite lens 10 having a foldable center optical part 12 and a rigid and hard non-foldable tactual sense or leg component 14. The lens can be folded by small and thin forceps of a type representatively used by opthalmic operation before the insertion of the lens. The lens is folded half along a center line by using the forceps so that the soft part 12 of the lens is inserted through a small cut opening of about 3-4mm. After the lens is introduced up to an objective position, it is opened to be expanded.
