Step down device for motor vehicle transmission, without staging of the ratios and with maximum progressive nature during the change primary ratio, final ratio; this device is made of a drive cone (2) restoring a multitude of intermediate ratios owing to its geometry, along the step down axis (4) which will be equipped with transmitter fingers (5), the latter will be intended to pivot in contact with the internal wall of the grooves (27) of the said drive cone, this device which is much more lightweight than a conventional gearbox will make it possible, in addition to a consequent energy saving (approximately 20%), to improve considerably the competitiveness and reliability factors of the motor power unit. <IMAGE>
