The circuit for controlling the air conditioner is designed, in the present invention, so that the engagement of the conditioner disengages during the phase for which the vehicle is being started, for the purpose of leaving a sufficient amount of power to the engine of the vehicle so that it starts correctly. The circuit includes a circuit breaker (C1, C2) on each of the clutch (1) and accelerator (2) pedals, a relay (R1) for triggering a timer (tempo) in this case, at the same time as a detection, by the circuit breakers, of the depressed position of both pedals, the timer controlling a relay (R2) which cuts off the coupling voltage for engaging the air conditioner for a certain time (to). An improvement consists in cutting off the air conditioner when the power-assisted steering is used at low speed or when the engine shows signs of overheating. <IMAGE>
