PURPOSE:To produce a new adsorbent having a property of selectively adsorbing nitric acid or nitrate ions from a mixed solution. CONSTITUTION:A process for producing a crosslinked bifunctional polymer having a dialkyl benzylphosphonate substituent and a sec. or tert. amine substituent, comprising introducing chloromethyl groups or active halogen groups into a styrene/divinylbenzene copolymer and introducing dialkyl benzylphosphonate substituents into it by reaction with a trialkyl phosphite and further introducing sec. or tert. amine substituents into it by reaction with an amine.
