The safety device locks a holding member when a transmission lever gets positioned in a neutral or parking range, so that in the case of restarting the automobile, the transmission lever can be kept in the neutral or parking range. The safety device comprises a brake switch (11) connected or disconnected with a minus part of a solenoid (6) according to the operation of a brake pedal (10); an ignition switch (12) in contact with the plus part of the solenoid (6); a rod (7) releasing or holding an adjustment shaft (1) according to the magnetization of the solenoid (6); the adjustment shaft (1) having two grooves (2n,2p) for connecting with the rod (7).
