POLYMER BEADS HAVING MODIFIED SURFACE AND ITS PRODUCTION

摘要

PURPOSE:To improve wettability of bead surface to water and to prevent aggregation of polymer beads. CONSTITUTION:This method includes the process to irradiate a gas containing at least one kind of monomer selected from acrylic acid, methacrylic acid and esters of these with light from fluorinated argon laser to produce radicals, and the process to coat the surface of polymer beads with polymers produced by the reaction of these radicals. Thereby, the surface of polymer beads is modified and these polymer beads can be used as a gap material for a liquid crystal display.
