<p>PURPOSE:To minimize the repetition of the stop and start in a recording operation or a reproducing operation and the queueing time of a host computer regardless of the data transfer interval and the data transfer density between the magnetic recording and reproducing devices of the host computer. CONSTITUTION:When the data transferred from a host computer 1 are stored in a buffer memory 12 and fed to a rotary head 4, the rotating speed of the rotary head 4 as well as the feed rate of a magnetic tape T are changed over by a switching control part 14 based on the buffer ratio of the buffer memory 12 as well as the increase/decrease ratio of the data. By this, continuous recording can be performed regardless of the amount and density of the data to be transferred. Also when the data is reproduced through the magnetic head 4 from the magnetic tape and transferred to the host computer, the rotating speed of the rotary head 4 as well as the feed rate of the magnetic tape T are changed over based on the buffer ratio and the increase/decrease ratio of data.</p> |
