A method to heat a diesel fuel to a temperature within the range of 95 to 115.degree.F, and preferably 105.degree.F, and then feeding the fuel at this temperature to fuel diesel injectors of a diesel motor, in order to maximize the efficiency of a diesel motor. A thermostatically controlled, diesel system heated with an automotive electrical power source to be mounted adjacent a diesel pump of a diesel motor is also described. It comprises a fuel reservoir having an inlet at one end and an outlet at the other end. The inlets and outlets are joined in the reservoir by a heating coil, with the reservoir being filled with a heating oil. Heating elements for heating the ambient oil are provided in the reservoir. A diesel fuel entering through the inlet is gradually heated by the ambiant oil in the reservoir in order to produce a flow of heated fuel through the outlet. The operation of the heating elements is controlled by a temperature sensing device provided in the outlet, and thus close to the diesel pump. The heating elements are operatively connected to the battery via a switch and a relay. The relay itself is operatively connected to a control module to be actuated by a signal derived from the temperature sensing device, such that the temperature sensing device via the control module is targeted to open the switch when the fuel at the outlet reaches a temperature in excess of 105.degree.F +/10.degree.F and to close the switch when the temperature is at a temperature within 105.degree.F +/- 10.
