The compounds are applied in agriculture and, in particular, in plant growing, as active ingredients for herbicide and growth-regulating agents. They have high biological activity. The N-4-fluorphenyl-N'-pyridyl thiocarbamides have a common formula<IMAGE>where Ar means 2-,3,4-pyridyl, 2-/3-methylpiridyl-, 2-/4-methylpyridyl/-, 2-/5-methylpyridyl/-, 2-/6-methylpyridyl/-, 2-/4,6-dimethylpyridyl/-, 2-/5-chlorinepyridyl/-, 2-/3,5-dichlorinepyridyl/-. They are obtained through the interaction of 4-fluor-phenyl-iso-thio-cyanate with the respective amino pyridine in alcohol environment under temperatures between 20 and 70 degrees C.
