The packaging system uses a number of cushioning elements (2..5) enclosing the corners and side edges of the appliance housing, before the appliance (1) is fitted within an outer packaging carton (7). The cushioning elements (2..5) are each formed from a useful textile item, eg a dishcloth, a tea towel, a T-shirt or a sweatshirt etc. The textile item is moulded into the required shape using a water souble binder and can be used after the binder is washed out. ADVANTAGE - Environmentally friendly packaging.
