In an acceleration switch for closing at least one pair of electrical contacts (6', 6'') by means of an inertia mass (1) acting on a spring, the spring and the inertia mass (1) being selected that the acceleration switch does not respond until an acceleration force acting on the inertia mass (1) exceeds a predetermined value, the spring is a monostable snap-action element (4). An elastic buffer element (10), which can contain an elastomeric material and/or a delay spring (12), can be provided on the side of the inertia mass (1) facing the snap-action element (4). Subject to suitable arrangement of the snap-action elements (4) and of their associated pairs of contacts (6', 6''), the acceleration switch can respond to accelerations in any desired spatial direction. <IMAGE> |
