The present invention relates to a process for the preparation of monoclonal antibodies which are directed against the thrombin/hirudin complex and derivatives thereof and of cell lines of hybridomas which secrete said monoclonal antibodies. The invention is also related to the use of monoclonal antibodies and/or derivatives thereof for the determination of the thrombin/hirudin complexes as well as test kits containing said monoclonal antibodies and/or derivatives thereof. More concretely, the present invention essentially relates to a process for the preparation of a monoclonal antibody which is directed against the thrombin/hirudin complex, and of a derivative thereof which maintains the specificity of the antibodies from which they are derived, which consists in the cells of a hybridoma cell line which secretes said antibody being propagated in vitro or in vivo and, when necessary, the monoclonal antibody obtained being isolated and/or converted into a derivative thereof.
