[Also in Division F2] A face mask 5 is supplied from a puncturable container 1 via a pointed valve member 30, the latter serving as a pressure regulator and also to effect the initial puncturing of the container. By rotating a control member 21 counterclockwise about its pivot 22, a relieved portion of a cam 23 allows the valve member, together with a seal 37, piston 32 and ball 33 mounted on a resilient member 34, to rise under the action of spring 31. Gas then flows to the mask via passage 4, chamber 26, filter 9 and restriction 6. Gas from chamber 26 can pass, via passage 43, to a chamber 40 where it acts on seal ring 37 in opposition to the spring to close the valve when a predetermined pressure is reached in chamber 26.</p> |
