The present invention relates to a conveyor belt as well as to a support structure for a flexible strand, generally the upper strand, of such a conveyor belt. In order to support such a flexible strand (8) moving in a specific longitudinal direction (17) between an upstream end, passing around an upstream drum (3) which is generally driven, and a downstream end, passing round a downstream drum (4) which is generally a drive drum, provision is made for a support structure (22) including sliding means (32), particularly longitudinal runners (skates, skids), on which the said strand (8) directly rests, with mutual sliding contact. This thus avoids the drawbacks inherent in a conventional support structure using rotary rollers. <IMAGE>
