PURPOSE: To detect the actual coating measured value in rough manufacturing process in an apparatus for measuring the iron content of a zinc layer in a zinc-plated steel or thickness of the layer. CONSTITUTION: The apparatus for measuring the iron content of a zinc layer or thickness of the layer in a zinc-plated steel has an X-ray source and a radiation detector, and comprises a measuring head 1 having a high voltage X-ray source 2 disposed at an angleγof 60 to 120 deg. to the surface of a material 6 to be measured therein, and at least two detectors 3, 4 having selecting sensitivity so that the one detector 3 is disposed at an angleαof 30 deg. to the one detector 3 and the other detector 4 is disposed at an angleβof 60 to 120' to the surface of the material 6 to be measured. |
