<p>A procedure for controlling oxygen-alkali bleaching of pulp in conjunction with pulp production, making use of aliphatic carboxylic acids generated in the bleaching process and dissolved in the solution phase. In the procedure, samples taken from the solution phase during bleaching are analyzed by the chromatographic method. The period of time required for reaching a desired degree of bleaching is determined in each case on the basis of the ratios of the concentrations of the acids analyzed, or alternatively on the basis of their absolute quantities.</p> |
