The present invention relates to a novel monoclonal antibody designated anti-TiGammaA.1 which binds to an antigenic determinant of the human T lymphocyte receptor and specifically to the Ti complex of the T3 Ti structure of the human T cell surface receptor. The Ti molecular structure includes the gamma chain, and the anti-TiGammaA.1 monoclonal antibody is specific for the gamma chain so that it enables detection, quantification and thorough characterization of the Ti complex of the second family of the T cell surface receptor. The invention can be used in the diagnosis and treatment of auto-immune diseases, carcinomas and viral infections.
