PURPOSE:To orientate discontinuous fibers to one direction and contrive to ensure mechanical strength, which is high in the direction of orientation, by a method wherein the interior of a head box, through where dispersed foaming liquid is charged on moving mesh belt so as to produce mixed layer of continuous fibers and thermoplastic resin in paper making manner, is divided in the direction of its width in multiple stages so as to divide the flow path of the dispersed foaming liquid. CONSTITUTION:Discontinuous fibers, thermoplastic resin and the like are dispersion-mixed with foaming liquid such as surface-active agent-containing water or the like in a dispersion tank 1. The resultant foaming liquid dispersion is passed through a head box 2. The interior of the head box 2 is divided in the direction of its width in multiple stages, the width (a) of one of which is 0.5-5.0 times the length of the discontinuous fiber. The divided foaming liquid dispersion is caught on the mesh belt 3 in paper making manner. The liquid in the foaming liquid dispersion is drained through the mesh belt 3 and drain ports 4, which are installed below the mesh belt 3, by vacuum. The mixed layer of the discontinuous fibers and the thermoplastic resin, from which the foaming liquid is drained, is dried with a dryer 5 and, when necessary, pressed with a hot press 6, resulting in forming in dense sheet. |
