PURPOSE:To prevent the sharp temporay reduction of the voltage at the early period in discharge by forming an anode through integral pressing of the metal porous body which contains nickel hydroxide beforehand with anode composition, and thus forming the anode. CONSTITUTION:The metal porous body which contains nickel hydroxide previously, for example foamed metal 2, is put into a metal mold 11, and loaded on a base 13, on which the anode composition 3 which contains silver oxide as a main anode activating substance is filled, and then the upper frame 14 is lowered, and the composition is pressed, and thus an anode 1 is formed. The anode 1 thus formed is stored in an anode can 6 so that the foamed metal 2 side contacts with a separator 4. With such a constitution, permeation of electrolyte into the anode composition on the separator side is performed sufficiently, and abnormal lowering of voltage at early time of discharge is eliminated, and flat discharge characteristic can be obtained. |
