PURPOSE:To avoid stop of an overall control system when at least one of wheel speed sensors is broken down, by providing a compensatory control unit, which is for compensating the information to be detected by means of the broken-down wheel speed sensor, in the compensatory control unit. CONSTITUTION:In a vehicle which has a car body speed detecting means consisting of a pair of wheel speed sensors 13a and 13b arranged to each of a pair of right and left wheels 13A and 13B which are less slippery than other wheels, and performs running control such as, for instance, traction control and autocruise control, etc., by means of an ECU on the basis of the signal detected by the car speed detecting means, a car speed detecting and compensatory control unit 166 are arranged to the ECU. A break-down detecting means 166A always monitors the outputs of the respective sensors 13a and 13b and confirms the broken-down sensor, and outputs the break-down signal. In the case of break-down, by using the compensatory control means 166B, rotational compensation is given to a steering angle by means of a sensor 121 (not shown), for instance, to the output signal sent from the normal side sensor 13a (13b). Thus, the car speed is found and output. |
