PURPOSE:To prevent the formation of illegible characters by extracting the contour parts of the characters and modifying only the parts exclusive of the contour parts without subjecting the contour parts to modification. CONSTITUTION:The contour parts of the characters to be synthesized are extracted from the character dot image data stored in a character dot image data memory means 1 by a contour extracting means 3 at the time of synthesizing the characters to be synthesized and the synthesized patterns stored in a synthesized pattern memory means 2. The synthesized patterns stored in a synthesized pattern memory means 2 are synthesized only for the range of the character dot image data exclusive of the contour parts of the characters which are to be synthesized and are extracted by the contour extracting means 3 among the character dot patterns of the characters which are to be synthesized and are stored in the character dot image data memory means 1 by a synthesis control means 4. The synthesis of the synthesized patterns in the contours of the characters to be synthesized is prevented in this way and, therefore, the synthesized characters to be eventually obtd. are not illegible. |
