A hand tool for transferring a film for example of adhesive, opaque or coloured material from a backing tape (6) onto a substrate (21) has a housing (1, 1.1) that contains a backing tape supply reel (5) and an applicator (2) arranged on the housing. The backing tape drawn from the supply reel is guided over the applicator and is pulled back into the housing. In order to obtain a handy tool with a simplified design, the housing has an elongated shape and the supply reel is pressed together into an elongated shape in the housing, similar to that of the crawler of a tank, with its flat sides (18, 19) bearing against the corresponding walls (9) or (10) of the housing. The pull-back force for the backing tape pulled back into the housing is generated by frictional engagement between the tape pulled back into the housing and the backing tape that has not yet been drawn out of the housing. |
