<p>1275065 Securing upholstery; securing carpets R G VIPOND 22 Jan 1970 [27 Jan 1969] 4455/69 Headings A4M and A4S [Also in Divisions E1-2] A device for tensioning and securing flexible sheet material e.g. chair covers or carpets, comprises a base H and a curved member B first margins of the base and the curved member having hinged connexion by hinge means D, and second margins of the base and the curved member being parallel to the first margins and each having a lip, with the lip of the second margin of the curved member having pointed projections E; the arrangement being such that when sheet material is engaged with the projections and extends over the curved member, between the curved member and the base, pivoting of said curved member towards the base by means of said hinge means so that the lips engage each other with the material between them, tensions the material and secures the curved member in the pivoted position. The lip C of the base is either out turned as shown in which case the lip of the member B engages over it or it is inturned and the lip of the member B engages between it and the base. In a modification a tongue L extends from the lip C and it is used for disengaging the lip of the member B from the lip C. In a further modification a slot is provided in the lip C through which a tool can be inserted to disengage the lips.</p> |
