A fuel cell system in which a methane producing gasifier [5] supplies methane fuel [3] to an internal reforming fuel cell [2] and unspent hydrogen [15] from the anode exhaust [4] of the fuel cell is used by the gasifier in processing the feedstock being converted by the gasifier to the methane fuel.
