Improvement in tubular telescopic struts for ensuring greater safety. The improvement involves adding to the base of the shank a tubular abutment 15 force-fitted into the tube 8 and welded to the plate 3. The stroke of the slide 7 is limited in this way, to prevent the possibility that the hand will be crushed between the plate 11 and the nut 6, and the fingers between the slide 7 and the plate 3. The abutment also reinforces the base of the shank which better withstands sledgehammer blows. It is also possible to place at the head of the slide a reinforcement 16 which is also capable of receiving sledgehammer blows if the strut is arranged with the slide downwards. This improvement can apply to all conventional tubular telescopic struts used particularly on public works sites, civil engineering sites, building sites, etc. <IMAGE>
