PURPOSE:To restrain the rise in the surface pressure between a planetary gear and an internal gear, and to prevent the deformation of the internal gear by constituting a reduction starter in such a way that the impact torque applied to the internal gear can be absorbed by the circumferential relative elastic deformation via a flange between the internal gear and a ring-shaped cushioning part fitted thereto. CONSTITUTION:A planetary gear reduction mechanism 3 incorporated in a motor bracket 1 between a motor housing 2 and a front bracket is made up of a sun gear 4, three planetary gears 5, and an internal gear 6, and the sun gear 4 is formed at the end of the motor shaft 7 of a starter, and the planetary gears 5 are journaled by the flange part 6a integrally provided at the rear end of a starter output shaft 8. And the internal gear 6 is provided to the flange 9 with a boss 9a that has been fitted on the outer circumference of the starter output shaft 8. In other words, the internal gear 6 is formed in the ring-shaped part 10 on the inner side out of double ring-shaped parts 10, 11 which are extended in the axial direction on the outer circumference of the flange 9, and the ringshaped part 11 on the outside is constituted as a cushioning part, and an elastic member 13 such as rubber is interposed between both ring-shaped parts 10 and 11.
