The transition compensation signal (UK) is used for the matching of the fuel amount to be metered in the event of acceleration and retardation. Means are provided for the storing of running film of performance graphs and control factor values. These two values are dependent on operational parameters, which can be read out depending on load and rpm. The transition compensation signal (UK) is formed dependent on the running film amount alteration signal and the control factor, for the transition compensation and the running film signal and/or the control factor signal emanating from the signal of a lambda probe can be corrected or learnt. The transition compensation is computed in the form of a recurrence formula from the two performance graphs running film amount and control factor. USE/ADVANTAGE - Electronic control system for metering fuel in IC engine. Enables also long term alterations in behaviour of IC engine or its individual components to be taken account of.
