The track has each section provided by a base (20) with a trapezoidal cross-section with sleepers (22) and metal rails (24) attached to its top surface. The electrical and mechanical connections between the adjacent track sections are provided by a bridging element (42). This has two identical circular head sections (40) which fit into circular sockets (36) in the ends of the two track sections. The sockets (36) are provided in the underside of each track section so that the inserted bridging element (42) is fully concealed when the adjacent track sections are coupled together.
