The measurement probe (1) is arranged in a basic body (3,13). Coaxial with this a protective tube (7) is displaceably located in the direction of the probe. The protective tube has two widened formations, the first (a) acting as a stop for the basic body, whilst the second (11) forms an annular pressure surface of a pressure chamber. A second annular surface represents a stop for an opposing part of the basic body (13). An inner annular surface of the second widened formation forms a surface movable in relation to the basic body. The protective tube is loaded in the pressure chamber (10) direction by a pressure-activated cylindrical spiral sping (15). The pressure chamber is connected by a channel (21) to a connection (19) for a pressurised coolant. USE - Probe as used in CNC machine tools.
