The load (20) is hooked onto a hook (18) of a suspension element (11) of a transporter with overhead cable (10). In the unhooking zone, a control rail (27) tilts the suspension element in order to orient the hook (18) downwards and automatically to free the load (20) which is received by a take-up rail (29). The device is applicable to installations for transporting bunches (clusters, stems) of bananas. <IMAGE>
