The invention relates to a device for separating and conditioning particles entrained by a gas, characterised in that it includes a chamber (1) fitted with an inlet (2) for the gas laden with particles and arranged so that the gas (6) swirls around inside the chamber, the particles, due to the centrifugal effect, being pressed up against the internal wall (18) of the chamber, and characterised in that the chamber (1) includes, in its upper part, a channel (15) filled with a viscous fluid (16) which flows along this wall (18), entraining the particles, towards the lower part (20) which is provided with an orifice (11) for discharging the fluid laden with particles. Application to the treatment of gases coming from incinerators or from driers and containing, especially, radioactive particles. <IMAGE>
