The feed spool (1) of the recorder has a braking band (5) looped around a cylindrical section and one end is attached to the tape tensioning lever (4). This connects with an actuator block (20) that responds to the displacement of a link (23). The link acts as a follower to a cam disc (21) with a profiled track (22). A lower bar (10) with spring bias (13) provides a brake locking (11) operation. ADVANTAGE - Simple construction using single brake on feed spool to maintain tension in tape during threading and avoid damage to tape.
