Process and appts. are for extn. of smoke gas or steam from a metallurgical oven, e.g. induction melting oven. The extracted medium flows at pressures below atmospheric into a channel surrounding the oven and is simultaneously enhanced by pumping air or an inert gas flow at pressures above atmospheric, radially in approx. the same plane as the extraction flow. Appts. pref. comprises an annular channel around the oven opening. The channel is divided into two sections, one forming an extraction channel, the other, shorter channel forming an inlet channel for pressurised air or inert gas. Both channels are connected to fans. USE/ADVANTAGE - The process and appts. are used to remove smoke, gas or steam from the opening of an induction melting furnace, esp. those with large vol., and ensures improved extn. with simple construction and lower energy costs.
