A screwed coupling element with lower and upper sections (7,8) engages the flanged end (16) of a glass chromotography col. tube to which sample liq. is supplied. Axially inside the element is a central tube (1) with a conical pressure surface (3) on the upper side of a terminal fist recess (2). Surrounding the tube is a sleeve (4) with an end surface of opposite conicity; a squashable seal (b), e.g. of PTFE, fits between the oppositely inclined conical surfaces. The sleeves upper end abuts the underside of the upper coupling element section (8), where upper face is compressed by an external nut (9). Upper and lower sections (10,11) of the central tube have a threaded connection and a tube clamp (18).
