INTEGRATED COKING-GASIFICATION PROCESS WITH MITIGATION OF SLAGGING

A fluid coking-gasification process for converting heavy hydrocarbonaceous chargestocks to lower boiling products in which a slagging prevention material is used to mitigate bogging of the fluidization bed in the coking zone or slagging in the gasifier. The slagging prevention material is selected from (i) inorganic metal compositions wherein the metal is selected from zirconium, the alkalineearth metals and the rare earths; and (ii) zeolitic materials such as spent catalytic cracking catalyst. The material is added either directly into the gasifier or it is mixed with the coke passing from the heating zone to the gasification zone.
