PURPOSE:To carry out contact reduction of CO2 in a combustion exhaust gas on a catalyst in the presence of a reducing agent and remove CO2 efficiently by containing at least one element selected from Sn, Zn, Ni, Co, Fe, Rh, Pd, Pt, and Ru as an active component element in the catalyst. CONSTITUTION:At least one element selected from Sn, Zn, Ni, Co, Fe, Rh, Pd, Pt, and Ru is contained in a catalyst as an active component element. Consequently, CO2 in a combustion exhaust gas is reduced by contact reduction on the catalyst in the presence of a reducing agent and converted into organic compounds and/or CO efficiently and removed. In this case, the catalyst contains the active component element as a metal or a metal oxide having a melting point of <=500 deg.C and it is preferable to use the metal or the metal oxide at the temperature where the metal or the metal oxide is in the molten state. As a result, the active points on the surface of the catalyst are successively altered and high activation can be kept for a long duration. |
