To reduce as far as possible the number of lasts 17 necessary to ensure continuity of production on a series- production line for footwear, close to the machine for removing lasts 16 of the installation there is a first, ascending endless conveyor belt 18 section, a second endless conveyor belt part 19 with a plurality of horizontal sections 19a, 19b and a final, descending endless conveyor belt section 20, the outlet of which is located operationally opposite a device for classifying lasts 21 with a plurality of compartments 23 mounted so as to rotate on a pedestal 24. In this way, the lasts 17 can be taken from the aforesaid removal machine 16 up to the initial stage 1 of the installation, in the vicinity of which there lies the aforesaid device for classifying lasts 21. <IMAGE>
