The invention relates to a device for controlling a hydraulic servo-steering system for motor vehicles in which the steering shaft (1) can roll to a restricted extent on the rack (3) to control the steering valve. To permit this rolling movement the steering shaft (1) is housed in a sleeve (9) which is mounted to rotate in relation to the steering gear casing (4) on needle roller bearings (10). To prevent involuntary steering on partial or complete breakdown of the system, the needle roller bearing axis is arranged parallel to the central axis of the steering shaft (1) and in the same plane as the latter and the power transmission point between the pinion (2) and the rack (3). The needle roller bearing axis is further from the centre point of the steering arm axis than this power transmission point. There is a captive spring (24) to keep the valve slide (19) in its neutral position. |
