Refuse incineration process control - is optimised w.r.t. variability of time taken to compress slack or compacted material entering process chamber

Loose bulk material (1) such as domestic refuse is driven from a container (2) into a combustion or other process chamber (3), by a pusher (4) or conveyor powered by a hydraulic pump (5). The compressibility of the material (1) is measured by a pressure transducer (6) in the hydraulic circuit. A controller (7) generates signals (8,9) for adjusters of the stroke and/or speed of the pusher (4), and one or more relevant parameters of a process step in the chamber (3). ADVANTAGE - Optical process control is achieved with high efficiency irrespective of variations in density and quality of feed.
