PURPOSE:To economically, easily obtain in optically high purity the title compound useful as a raw material for synthesizing antibiotics, etc., by allowing a specific microorganisms to act on an enantiomer mixture of butanediol. CONSTITUTION:The objective compound of R-modification can be obtained by allowing (B) microorganisms selected from microorganisms groups each belonging to Rhodococcus, Goldona and Streptomyces which have ability to leave (R)-1,3-butanediol by acting on the above enantiomer mixture of (C) a product from treating such microorganisms exemplified by Rhodococcus erythropolis DSM 43200, to act on the above (A) an enantiomer mixture of 1,3-butanediol. |
