PURPOSE:To continuously and efficiently obtain a graphite film having enough thickness and size in longitudinal direction with high flexibility and toughness by passing a polymer film continuous in the longitudinal direction to two or more succeeding calcination processes while controlling the tension on the film. CONSTITUTION:Processes to produce a graphite film are as follows: Two or more succeeding calcination processes (e.g. in a first electric furnace 2 and second electric furnace 4) for calcination of a polymer film 7 which is continuous in the longitudinal direction, a controlling device to control tension applied on the polymer film 7 (e.g. rollers A, B, C,-D, E, F; G, H, I-J, K, L) before and after the each calcination process, and a temp. maintaining process (e.g. electric furnace 3) between the calcining processes. The polymer film 7 is further subjected to heat treatment and rolling treatment 5. |
