Initiation of a monomer contg. a methylene gp. attached to a C-atom by a double bond in a polymerisation system contg. water alkyl haloformate, H2O2 reactable with the haloformate and a buffer to maintain a pH >7, comprises adding an acyl peroxide, before the monomer is 75% polymerised. Pref. haloformate is ethyl chloroformate and peroxide is lauryl peroxide. |
