PURPOSE:To obtain the title short fiber useful for tire cords, etc., excellent in mechanical properties, fatigue resistance and adhesiveness by imparting a continuously fed tow-like fibrous product with an adhesive while opening and by heat treating and cutting the resulting fibrous product. CONSTITUTION:A continuously fed tow-like fibrous product (e.g. of polyester fiber) e.g. 0.3-10 denier in single fiber fineness and 10000-600000 denier in the total thickness is imparted with an adhesive such as of epoxy resin while uniformly opening it through a curved bar, and then heat treated and cut to pref. 0.3-10.0mm pieces, thus obtaining the objective short fiber. |
