The method applies a series of images to a moving stock (13), for example holographic images to banknote sheets. The images are conveyed on a carrier (34) in a substantially continuous form. Transfer via pressure cylinders (46,48) presses the images onto adhesive patches, provided on the moving stock at predetermined positions by applicator rolls (22,26). The carrier may be fed from a cassette unit (42,44) when security images are being handled.
