PURPOSE:To minimize leakage magnetic flux so as to reduce swirl loss by installing electronic parts such as a transformer, a current limiting inductor and the like in such a manner as being separated from one another and each being located near the wall face of a heat conductive case. CONSTITUTION:Electronic parts such as an inverter 1, a transformer 2 having its core longitudinally disposed, and a current limiting inductor 4, etc., are disposed in a ballast case 6 in such a manner as being separate from one another and all making contact with the wall surface of the case 6 directly or indirectly via a heat conductor so as to secure heat dissipation properties, the ballast case 6 being made of a good heat conductor having heat radiation holes 7, 7,... provided therethrough. Because leakage magnetic flux is scarcely passed through the wall face of the ballast case 6, swirl loss is small and high- frequency voltage supplied to a discharge lamp is not decreased. The whole case can thus be miniaturized so as to enhance efficiency. |
