The process carried out by a method of polymerisation in emulsion with a solids content of 30-40 % is characterised by the following stages: a. the polymerisation process is begun in emulsion with a polymerisable solids content ranging from 2 to 20 %; b. copolymerisable surface-active agents are added to the emulsion polymerisation process itself in concentrations which can range from 0.1 to 3 % of the monomeric solids of the emulsion, and c. the content of polymeric substances is raised to concentrations of from 30 to 40 % by azeotropic distillation of the excess solvent, either during the polymerisation process or at the end of the latter. Ethoxylated or sulphonated vinyl derivatives in particular are employed as surface-active agents.
|
