PURPOSE:To allow a copying machine to identify signal specifications of plural peripheral equipments or the like capable of being connected to the copying machine automatically at the connection of the peripheral equipment by providing a means discriminating signal specifications between the copying machine and the peripheral equipment based on the connecting state of the peripheral equipment connected externally to the controller. CONSTITUTION:A discrimination means discriminating automatically signal specifications between a copying machine and a peripheral equipment based on the connection state of the peripheral equipment connected externally is provided to the controller. For example, the connection state between a peripheral equipment 107 and a copying machine 21 is discriminated by the setting state of a copying machine connect signal FCNT. Moreover, the type of a connected device may be recognized based on a setting state of an acknowledge signal ACK with respect to the state of a request signal REQ. Thus, when a peripheral equipment is connected to the copying machine, the peripheral equipment is automatically discriminated. |
