PURPOSE:To obtain a sintered matter having high mechanical strength in a short time by providing a heating element having high mechanical strength and resistance which covers a part of the end of a press die, and feeding electricity to said element in association with the action of a press device. CONSTITUTION:Resistance heating element 12, e.g. four heating elements 12a-12d, are provided at least on the end of a press die 11. A carbon material 16 to be sintered is placed in a forming frame of the die 11 on the lower side to start cycles of pressing the carbon material according to the operation of a press operation device. In association with said cycles, power is applied from a heating power source 13 through a heating power source circuit 15 to the elements 12 by the control of a heating control device 14 to rapidly heat the material 16 which is pressed under predetermined pressure between dies of a press device using the current from the elements 12. When the temperature of the material has reached a predetermined one, pressure is increased, as in the final stage of sintering, to complete the sintering. |
