SELF-DIAGNOSTIC AND SELF-REPAIRING SYSTEM FOR IMAGE FORMING DEVICE

PURPOSE:To attain self-diagnosis and self-repair by applying status data indicating the function status of an image forming device from a data input means, diagnosing the status and selecting an actuator to be driven. CONSTITUTION:Status data applied in response to the application of status data from the data input means are compared with feature data such as reference data and the occurrence of a failure is discriminated when the status data is relatively higher or lower than the reference data. The status of the occurred failure is diagnosed based upon qualitative data. At the occurrence of the failure, which actuator means out of plural actuator means 6a to 6c is to be driven to repair the occurred failure is inferred based upon the qualitative data and failure diagnostic knowledge obtained from an objective model storing part 14 and the comparison of the adjusting states and adjusting ranges of respective means 6a to 6c to select the actuator means concerned. Thus, the self-diagnosis and the self-repair can be executed.
