<p>1378660 Electric furnace steelmaking FLINTKOTE INTERNATIONAL LICENSING CO 20 Dec 1971 [22 Dec 1970] 59190/71 Heading C7D Dissolution of lime in the single slag of a basic electric furnace is accelerated by the addition of an oxide of boron or a substance containing such oxide or yielding it at the temperature of the bath. The additive may be charged with the lime, or immediately prior to or thereafter. Preferred additives are boron trioxide, boric acid, anhydrous borax, calcium metaborate, colemanite, rasorite, ulexite, enderite, kernite or kurnakovite, used in amounts ranging from ¢ to 5% wt per cent of the lime.
